SHREVEPORT, La. - LSUS basketball player Jeff Garrett picked up another statewide honor when he was selected by the Louisiana Association of Basketball Coaches as the Small College Player of the Year for the 2018-19 season.
The winner of this award is selected annually by the men's college basketball coaches in the State of Louisiana. Garrett, the NAIA's National Player of the Year, will be presented the award at the LABC's Annual Awards Banquet on May 4th at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Baton Rouge.
The statewide award is the second this month for Garrett, who was voted to the Louisiana Sportswriters Association All-Louisiana First Team last week. During the 2018-19 season, Garrett earned multiple player of the year honors (NABC, NAIA, RRAC) while also being named a NAIA First-Team All American, the RRAC Newcomer of the Year and the RRAC Defensive Player of the Year.
Garrett is the sixth LSUS player all-time to win the award and becomes the second Pilot in a row to take home the honors as former guard Stevie Clark was last year's recipient.
